Vaguely Matisse style figure drawing

I'm submitting these two drawings for Illustration Friday
This weeks topic is 'Poise'
The top one was sketched by looking only at the model, not at the page and done quite quickly.I love this exercise, the results are always interesting and funny.
And then I photoshopped the original in a vague sort of Matisse style
I did the second drawing from a photo of a fashion model in a magazine, I just liked her poise.

1950's chick

Dora's attempt at subtlety was as heavy handed as her eye-shadow!

Illustration Friday's Topic this week is 'Heavy'.
I'm enjoying looking at 50's graphics at the moment, and Dora is my attempt at a 50's chick.

The Missing Blanket

Illustration Fridays topic is Blanket.
I'm submitting this watercolour of a little girl who's not a happy camper.
Her mom had the audacity to put her comfort blanket in the washing machine.
Disaster, it's not dry yet!
I totally sympathise, how on earth is she expected to have a snooze now, don't they know that her blanket is an integral part of sleeping?!

Spiderman Prima Donna

It was plain to see, Spiderman was quite the drama queen!

Spiderman has always been one of my favourite Super Heros, thanks to my younger brother who was a Spiderman fanatic and collected his comic book, sorry, graphic novel, every week.
The funny thing is though, my brother is actually arachnophobic!
So anyway when I saw this Spiderman action figure in a charity shop I couldn't resist.
I brought him home and we've become great pals, even though he's the Prima Donna drama queen.
Simply lives in the lime light!

Angel wings

It's the little things...
sunlight catching angel wings
moonstone sparkling on my skin...
but what would really make me sing..
just a little thing
like a nice big lottery win;)

Illustration Fridays topic this week is Little Things.
I'm using up my artistic licence here posting these ceramic Angel wings I've made but they are what I'm working on at the moment.

Angel Wings with Song of Solomon on parchment.

Fallen Angel on leather with silver wire and abalone

Clothes do not maketh the man but....

They certainly help to maketh the dolly!

A friend asked me ages ago to make soft toys out of her two kids first baby blankets.
Please god she wont regret it.
I make things impulsively and hope that they turn out right.
I wouldn't know what to do with a pattern for example.
Unfortunately for this little rag dolly, who has one arm longer than the other and one leg fatter and longer.
But hey it adds character , right? and nobody's perfect.
We'll just call her wonderfully Wobbly Wendy and love her to bits.

Anyway Wendy doesn't look too wobbly with her clothes on, a bit like myself really!

One of my favourite songs by Van (the man) Morrison is
Moondance
Beautiful romantic lyrics and great music to dance to as well!

Illustration Friday

This is my first ever Illustration Friday
BUZZ is the topic this week. I'm also new to photoshop, it's brilliant, once you get the hang of using the layers!
