A streak of Red Squirrel

I snapped this little fellow at Fota Wildlife Park
Unfortunately the red squirrel is almost as exotic in Ireland as are giraffes and cheetahs!
It was a thrill to get a glimpse of him and believe me that's all it was, they are so tiny and so fast, and perfectly camouflaged in the autumn leaves.
Well not perfectly 'cause they're like a streak of fire when the sun catches them.

Thematic Photographic this week is 'Autumn'

Ooo, your blog is so pleasing to my eyes and very interesting! My son went biserk with excitement at the giraffe photos. What is the illustration Friday thing? That looks neat too.

Is Fota the only place in Ireland with red squirrels? sometimes it seems like that.

what does he have in his mouth?

Hi Ian, yes, Fota is a red squirrel safe haven, they shoot the greys on sight! :)

It's a wallnut, just shows how tiny he is doesn't it.
