Blue footed Boobie

Thematic Photographic is 'Blue' this week.
So here's Stanley, my Blue Footed Boobie, whom I made a couple of years ago.
In fact he's already featured on my blog with his pal George.
He's a bit of a twit but I'm very fond of him!

Mating Dance

Illustration Friday "Rejection"
Stanley couldn't contemplate the idea of rejection, as he proudly displayed his beautiful blue feet in the traditional mating dance of the blue footed Boobies.

Trudy the yellow footed booby softie

Another of my birdy creations.
Last week my pal sent me this link softie awards So I immediately signed up and entered all my creations. The judges will choose five top softies from each category and then it's up to the public to vote for their favourite. There's tough competition out there though, some incredible cuties strutting their stuffing! You can see my guys and cheer them on, at flickr

Boobies having a chat

Comunication is this weeks topic for Illustration Friday

So in keeping with my birdy theme, I had fun with the blue footed Boobies from the Galapagus Islands. They are so animated in reality, they do a lovely mating dance, solemnly lifting their big blue feet, it's very funny. You can have a look at the dancing boobies . Hope it puts a smile on your face.

Dancing Boobies

Another little gem from Youtube, the mating dance of blue footed Boobies' from the Galapagus Islands. Unfortunatly the colour isn't the best, so you don't get the full comical effect of him showing off his beautiful big blue feet. Isn't his bowing, before he approaches her, so dignified!

These guys were the main influence when I was creating George and Stanley, see prievious post "bird brains".

Boobies

Knowing how much I love Boobies, my brother sent me
this link .It's brilliant, not only as a great image but for the fun of the pun too. Brings to mind Sarah Lucas' fried egg t-shirt. Prefer the Boobies though.

Saw another great idea for a t-shirt on BifSniff ,one of my favouite blogs, highly entertaining.

Bird brains!

Just to give you a rough idea of their size, George ia approximately 12" and Stanley stands a proud 20", and I made them out of felt and beautiful woven wool by Alexanders of Scotland.

Work in progress; Blue footed Boobies from the Galapagos Islands

Started out in watercolour.

Enjoyed them so much that I decided to try them in acrylic.

But I still have a bit of work to do on these two boys, I'll post them up again when I feel that they're done.I think that the acrylic seems to add a bit of dignity to the guys, in comparison to the waterclour which are quite cartoony. Neither were conscious decisions.

Our George

This is George, inspired by those blue footed boobies that I adore.

An avid reader our George.

The plan is that I make a whole flock of friends for our George.
